    Nice!
    One source I have attributes it, indeed, to the Kotzker, while the sefer T’nuas HaMussar quotes in in the name of R Yisrael Salanter. Interestingly both of them live around the same time.

    I heard it said in the name of Reb Chaim Brisker, although from what I hear it was a very popular saying among many.
